CHATEL
One
of the shortest drives from Calais, and only 1 hour 40 minutes
from Geneva, Châtel is a chalet style farming village
built around the old church which has since been extended with
newer buildings out to Lac Vonnes on the Swiss border and down
the hillside to Le Linga ski area. Walkers & Skiers can access Switzerland from the Super Chatel area lifts in the
town centre, or Avoriaz Morzine
and Les Gets from Le Linga and Pre la Joux. Excellent resort
for all activities, mountain biking, walking, climbing, skiing and snowboarding. Nightlife starts with
apres ski at The 2 main pubs then on to the many restaurants.
Why not try skating at the rink by Lac Vonnes at the top of
town, bowling or an evening at the cinema a good place to brush
up your French. In summer there are many walks and excursions
provided by the tourist office a market every wednesday and
mountain bike courses in the Pre la Joux area
